Indonesia-based coal mining firm Bayan Resources Tbk PT (IDX: BYAN) stated recently that three subsidiaries in East Kalimantan have suspended mining operations, effective from 25 March to 30 April 2020, to help curb the spread of Covid-19.
Bayan said in a statement that the three subsidiaries are PT Bara Tabang (PT BT), PT Fajar Sakti Prima (PT FSP) and PT Indonesia Pratama (PT IP).
PT BT dan PT FSP are coal miners holding IUP OP mining licenses located in Tabang District, Kuta Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan, while PT IP is a contractor for both PT BT and PT FSP. Bayan said PT IP has informed the temporary mining operation suspension to the sub-contractors.
Bayan said the suspension of the mining operations was made considering the recommendation of the government in relation to the Covid-19 global pandemic. “This is to prevent the spread of Covid-19 at the two mining areas which employ quite large number of workers,” Bayan said.
