Bhubaneswar: Chrome Ore production has been stopped in the Saruabil Chrome Ore mines in Sukinda owned by Mishrilal Mines (pvt) Ltd owing to workers’ unrest and feud within the promoter Jain family over ownership issues.
According to Government reports, Chrome Ore production at the Saruabali mines has been stopped since July this year. However, in the previous months this year there has been a continuous production in the same mine. From January to June the company had produced 67,165 tonnes of Chrome Ore. In the month of March alone the company has produced 26,565 tonnes and 15,600 tonnes in February. However, Ore production dropped in the subsequent months after the death of the promoter of the company Mr. Mishrilal Jain in the month of April.
In April, May and June the company had produced 6000, 8000 and 5000 tonnes respectively.
As per sources, there has been a dispute between the two sons of Mr. Mishrilal over ownership issues after his death. Due to this the workers remained unpaid for several months and have stopped work in the mine. Last month the angry workers had kidnapped the GM of the mining unit owing to payment issues.
The company’s Ferro Alloys plant in Pankapal, has also been closed for the last several months.
