India: NMDC Iron Ore Auction from Chhattisgarh Mines Receives Dull Response

India’s largest iron ore miner – National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) conducted an e-auction yesterday (12th March) from its Chhattisgarh mines. The offered material comprised of 24,000 MT DR CLO, 28,000 MT iron ore fines, 20,000 MT ROM and 40,000 MT low grade iron ore.

According to market sources report to SteelMint, the auction failed to receive a response from the steelmakers amid high base price set by the miner.

In Jan’20, NMDC Ltd hiked its iron ore prices twice for the month. Prices of Baila lump ore is at INR 3,200 per wet metric tonne (wmt), Baila iron ore fines are at INR 2,910 per wet metric tonne. FoR prices mentioned are excluding Royalty, DMF, NMET and other taxes.
