As per the custom data maintained with SteelMint, Thailand (Finish Long & Flat) steel imports have been registered at 9.87 MnT in CY19, up by 3% as compared to 9.57 MnT in the previous year.
Finish Long- On a yearly basis, the country’s imported finished long steel is registered at 1.05 MnT in CY’19, up around 13% as against 0.93 MnT in CY’18.
Japan stood as top exporter of finish long steel to the Thailand and registered at 0.31 MnT in CY’19, down by 11.42% as compared to 0.35 MnT in CY’18. While export share from Malaysia was at 0.21 MnT (+200%) & China – 0.17 MnT (+31%).
Finish Flat- Thailand’s Finish flat steel imports up by 2% to 8.82 MnT in CY’19 as against 8.64 MnT in CY’18.
Ferrous Scrap- Thailand’s ferrous scrap imports in 2019 are registered at 0.98 MnT in CY’19, plunged by 39.13% as against 1.61 MnT in CY’18.
Low import of ferrous scrap has significantly contributed to the rise in semi-finish (Billet/Pig iron) import which is registered at 4.19 MnT in CY’19, enlarged by 55.18% as against 2.7 MnT in CY’18.
Graphite Electrode- On a yearly basis, the country’s import of Graphite electrode is registered at 8,515 MT in CY’19, plunged by 37.9% against 13,708 MT in CY’18
