India: TATA Metaliks Keeps Pig Iron Price Unchanged for Feb’20

TATA Metaliks Limited (TML) – largest Foundry grade pig iron manufacturer in eastern India has kept its pig iron offers unaltered for Feb’20 deliveries, sources reported to SteelMint.

The current offers by TATA Metaliks for Foundry pig iron is reported at INR 32,000/MT (USD 448) & for Low Silicon (1-1.5%) pig iron is around INR 29,500/MT (USD 412), the prices are ex-plant, Kharagpur, eastern India.

Prior to this, the company increased offers twice in the month of Jan’20, first on 2nd Jan’20 by INR 1,300/MT (USD 18) and further on 9th Jan’20 by INR 1,700/MT (USD 24) for basic grade pig iron.

Pig iron prices of few private mills in eastern India have increased by about INR 300-400/MT W-o-W & INR 1,000/MT in a month’s duration owing to short supply.

A subsidiary of domestic steel giant Tata Steel, Tata Metaliks has a manufacturing plant at Kharagpur, West Bengal, where pig iron and ductile iron pipes are produced.

Tata Metaliks has hot metal installed capacity of about 5 lakh tone p.a., in which the production of DI pipe is about 2 lakh tone p.a. and about 3 lakh tone hot metal convert in to pig iron.
