Pellet manufacturers association of India (PMAI) along with MSPL ltd organized two days workshop during 20-21st Jan’20 on pellets manufacturing and skill development and other process related issues. The workshop was held in Hospet, Karnataka and around 100 people participated including the major leaders of steel industry specifically from southern India. SteelMint also attended this two day workshop to know the new innovations in the industry.
The workshop was organised related to skill development in pellet making to optimize process wastage management and workflow.
The major attendees in this workshop were – Jindal Steel, Tata Steel, Rashmi Metaliks & Amalgam Steel from eastern India, Bajrang Group from central India and pellet including steel manufacturers from southern India i.e. MSPL Ltd, Janki Corp, KIOCL, Minera Power & Steel and Xindia Steel.
The head of operation & commercial department from the above mentioned industries shared their ideas to improve quality as well as production with low input cost.
Further, TATA Steel also highlighted their inhouse digitalization process control measures evolved in their plant to check quality of pellets as early as possible. Tata is now India’s largest private steel producer post acquisition of Bhushan Steel & Usha Martin in eastern India.
Inline with this, Mr. D V Ravi Shankar consultant in Indian iron & steel sector skill council presented the government’s skill development programs which could help industry colleagues to enhance skills and ease the overall company’s performance.
PMAI has also scheduled a plant visit at the end of workshop days where most of the participants visited MSPL LTD which has pellet making capacity of about 1.2 MnT PA and the plant is based at Koppal district in Karnataka. They have their own mines in the district for easy backward integration.
Also, the general secretary of PMAI Mr. Deepak Bhatnagar has urged industry to organize skill development programme frequently for more knowledge sharing and development in the respective fields.
