Iran’s Steel Production Up Around 6% in First Eight Months of Persian Year

Iranian steelmakers booked a Y-o-Y growth of 5.82% during first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21-Nov. 21). The total production of semis and finished steel was recorded at 30.98 MnT during the period under consideration.

According to the Iranian Steel Producers Association’s latest report, semi-finished steel made up 17.42 MnT of the total output, up 5% Y-o-Y.

Billet and bloom made up 10.25 MnT of semi-finished production while slab output hit 7.17 MnT to register 11% rise and 3% decline respectively Y-o-Y.

Meanwhile, finished steel production of the country reached 13.56 MnT to register a Y-o-Y growth of 7%. With 6.8 MnT, flat steel products booked the major share in finished steel production figures, to register a Y-o-Y growth of 4%. With 5.71 MnT, 1.71 MnT and 1.09 MnT, HRC, CRC and coated coil booked a Y-o-Y growth of 3%, 4% and 20% respectively.

During the same period under consideration, long steel production was recorded at 6.75 MnT to book a Y-o-Y rise of 9%. With 5.45 MnT, 740,000 MT and 556,000 MT, rebar, beams and L, T & other beam types posted a Y-o-Y growth of 9%, 22% and 9% respectively.

Meanwhile, country’s direct-reduced iron production stood at 18.55 MnT during the eight-month period, indicating a 7% Y-o-Y rise.
