China’s Pellet Imports Up 66% on Increased Intake from India

–China iron ore pellet imports surged 66% Y-o-Y to 21.65 MnT in 9M CY’19 against 13.03 MnT in 9M CY’18.

–China’s pellet import volumes from India has increased sharply to 6.99 MnT in 9M CY’19 against 6.42 MnT in entire CY18.

–Export volumes from Ukraine to China rose to 79% Y-o-Y to 3.03 MnT in 9M CY’19 against 1.7 MnT previously.

–Iran and Russia have also observed a significant jump in their export volumes to China to 2.63 MnT & 1.70 MnT respectively; however, exports from Brazil fell as Vale underwent collapse at its dam at Corrego do Feijao mine in Minas Gerais in Brumadinho, Brazil on 25th Jan’19. Vale reduced pellet guidance to 43 MnT from previously 45 MnT.
