SCCL: Coal Production Up 20% M-o-M in Oct’19

Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), the coal miner operating in Telangana, has reported an uptick of 20% in monthly coal production during Oct’19. The company had produced 5.07 MnT coal in Oct’19 as against 4.24 MnT in Sep’19.

Extended monsoon rains had affected SCCL’s coal output from underground mining projects, wherein production remained almost flat m-o-m at 0.73 MnT. However, a significant growth was noted in output from opencast mines, which had increased 24% on the month to 4.33 MnT in Oct’19.

Still, the overall production volume was marked 4% lower on the year from 5.27 MnT in Oct’18.

In terms of coal dispatch, SCCL’s supplies in Oct’19 fell 17% on the year to 4.9 MnT, recording its heaviest y-o-y decline since the beginning of FY20. Although, coal dispatches were noted 12% higher on the month from 4.36 MnT in Sep’19.

A gradual decline in coal off-take via road mode had eventually lowered SCCL’s coal supplies. Apparently, dispatch via road mode was down 55% Y-o-Y to 0.63 MnT in Oct’19.

Area-wise Coal Production:
Highest coal production was attained at Kothagudem area, followed by Manuguru and Ramagundem-II. As a matter of fact, barring Adriyala projects, all the other 10 mining areas of SCCL had noted an increase in coal production m-o-m during Oct’19.
