World Crude Steel Output Up by 4% in 9M CY’19

As per the data released by the World Steel Association (WSA), total crude steel production of 64 steel manufacturing countries stood at 1,391.067 MnT in (Jan-Sep) CY’19 as compared with 1,339.494 MnT in a similar time frame of CY’18.

However, on a monthly basis, the same inched down by 3% to 151.339 MnT in Sep’19 in comparison with 155.255 MnT in Aug’19.

SteelMint has analyzed the world’s crude steel production numbers of major steel-producing countries-

China’s crude steel production up by 8% in 9M CY’19- During 9M CY’19, the nation’s crude steel production rose by 8% to 747.824 MnT as compared with 690.151 MnT in 9M CY’18.

However, on a monthly premise nation’s crude steel output declined by 5% to 82.773 MnT in Sep’19, which was 87.251 MnT in the preceding month.

India’s crude steel output up by 4% in 9M CY’19- India’s crude steel output increased by 4% to 84.189 MnT in 9M CY’19 in comparison to 81.316 MnT in 9M CY’18.

However, on a monthly basis, India churned out 8.961 MnT in Sep’19 up by 1% over 8.890 MnT in the preceding month.

Japan’s crude steel output fell by 4% in 9M CY’19- Nation’s crude steel output fell by 4% in 9M CY’19 to 75.639 MnT as compared with 78.619 MnT in corresponding months of CY’18.

Meanwhile, the nation’s crude steel output stood at 8.045 MnT in Sep’19, witnessing a marginal fall of 1% over 8.12 MnT a month ago.

United States crude steel output up by 3% in 9M CY’19- USA’s crude steel production grew by 3% to 66.200 MnT in 9M CY’19 as compared to 64.173 in 9M of the previous year.

Meanwhile, on 7.072 MnT in Sep’19, down by 1% over 7.396 MnT in the previous month.

Crude steel production of other top steel-producing countries in 9M CY’19 is as follows Russia: 53.775 MnT, South Korea: 54.13 MnT, Germany at 30.36 MnT, Turkey 25.28 MnT, Brazil: 24.61 MnT, and Iran is 19.31 MnT.
