Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL), the coal mining arm of CIL operating in Odisha has invited expression of interest from customers who wish to procure coal rejects from its upcoming washeries.
The company has notified that the washery rejects would comprise of coal having GCV range of 1,000-2,000 kCal/kg, generated from its upcoming coal washeries at Basundhara, Hingula, Jagannath and Lakhanpur, which are expected to be installed under Build Operate maintain (BOM) concept.
The 4 washeries having capacity of 10 MnTPA each are likely to yield 8.47 MnT washery rejects on an annual basis, which would be available for sale from Mar’20 onwards.
It is pertaining to note that MCL has already issued letter of intimation to the lowest bidder for carrying out the requisite construction works at all the 4 washeries, which are under different stages of development.

Quantity mentioned in MnTPA
MCL has stated that selling price of the coal reject would be determined as per the GCV, or as decided by the management taking into account the situation prevailing at that time.
Qualification Criteria:
A company registered/incorporated in India/abroad who have their own plant(s) or likely to set-up the same with date of commissioning of the same, are entitled to submit EoI for the depicted sales contract.
Transportation of coal rejects preferably is to be made by rail but transportation from washery premises to siding has to be made by road. It was also highlighted that exclusive rail sidings for transportation of washery rejects needs to be identified by the buyer.
MCL has requested the interested buyers to submit please submit their Expression of Interest at its official address on or before 30 Nov’19 up to 3.00 PM.
