Tata Steel BSL Iron Ore & Pellet Sourcing Plunge 32% in Sep’19

Bhushan Steel – a major integrated steel maker with a capacity of 5.6 MnT has recorded iron ore & pellet sourcing at 0.41 MnT in Sep’19. The sourcing dropped 32% as against 0.61 MnT in Aug’19.

Bhushan steel total iron ore sourcing for the month stood at 0.41 MnT, down 31% against 0.60 MnT in Aug’19.

Tata Steel supplies picked up significantly by 23% for the month to 0.31 MnT as against 0.26 MnT a month ago.

State owned miner- OMC supplied 0.04 MnT iron ore to the steel maker, down 72% as compared to 0.14 MnT in Aug’19. Sourcing from Indrani Patnaik dropped 54% to 0.03 MnT.

Procurement from Serajuddin mine fell 69% to 0.02 MnT for the month. However, the miner had reduced lump offers towards Sep’19 by INR 300/MT to INR 3,400/MT (ex-mines, including Royalty, DMF, & NMET).

Bhushan Steel pellet sourcing down 75% in Sep’19

The pellet sourcing by the steel maker has dropped to 3,850 MT in Sep’19, as against 15,400 MT a month ago.

Tata Steel BSL is planning to expand Bhushan steel capacity from 5.6 MnT to 8.3 MnT. They are also planning to enhance production at its captive iron ore mines around Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar.
