Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has reported a 21% fall in monthly coal production during Aug’19. The coal company operating in Telangana attained 4.05 MnT coal output against 5.15 MnT in Jul’19.
Notably, heavy rains that lashed various sites had affected coal production in the opencast mines, resulting in losses to the Singareni Collieries.
SCCL’s coal production from opencast mines was down 25% M-o-M to 3.27 MnT in Aug’19 against 4.37 MnT recorded in Jul’19. Contrarily, output from underground projects had slightly increased on the month to 0.78 MnT in Aug’19 against 0.77 MnT in Jul’19.
During Aug’19, SCCL’s coal production had averaged 130,664 MT/day, which was assessed comparatively lower against the previous months.
Kothagudem area noted the highest coal production during the month, with 0.87 MnT output in Aug’19. However, out of the 11 mining areas of SCCL, only Yellandu and Adriyala projects had managed to post a growth in monthly coal production.

Over the course of the first 5 months of FY20 (Apr-Aug’19), SCCL’s coal production has reached 26.28 MnT, up 12% Y-o-Y from 23.38 MnT recorded in Apr-Aug’19.
SCCL Coal Dispatch:
SCCL’s coal dispatch decreased 18% M-o-M to 4.19 MnT in Aug’19, which was also marked 7% lower on the year from 4.49 MnT in Aug’18.
The company had transported 785 coal rakes during the month, which had eventually fallen below the 1000 mark for the first time in FY20.
SCCL’s coal supplies to NTPC’s power plants dropped 31% M-o-M to 0.707 MnT in Aug’19, while supplies to its pit-hear power plant STPP were down 26% on the month to 0.349 MnT.
SCCL’s total dispatch in Apr-Aug’19 period stood 26.15 MnT, slightly higher than 25.92 MnT noted in the year-ago period.
