Spain Steel Import Statistics in May’19

Spain iron ore imports M-o-M in May’19- Spain iron ore imports for the month of May’19 witnessed at 0.45 MnT, up as against 0.29 MnT a month ago.

On yearly basis, imports dropped 22% as compared to 0.58 MnT in May’18.

During first five months (Jan-May) CY’19 Spain’s iron ore imports stood at 2.37 MnT down by 9% over 2.61 MnT in (Jan-May) CY’18.

Country-wise Spain iron ore imports in May’19- Brazil bagged largest share in Spain’s imports at 0.16 MnT in May’19 while no imports were heard in previous month.

Following this Spain also imported from Canada at 0.15 MnT and Mauritania at 0.13 MnT in May’19.

Spain ferrous scrap imports M-o-M in May’19- Nation’s ferrous scrap imports for May’19 stood at 0.4 MnT; upsurged by 38% as against 0.29 MnT in previous month.

Meanwhile on yearly premise the same increased significantly in May’19 in comparison with 0.32 MnT in May’18.

During first five months (Jan-May) CY’19 nation’s ferrous scrap imports accounted for 1.67 MnT, increased by 14% as compared to 1.46 MnT in same time frame of CY’18.

Country-wise Spain ferrous scrap imports in May’19- France being the leading exporter of ferrous scrap to Spain accounted for 0.19 MnT in May’19, jumped up by 19% over 0.16 MnT in preceding month.

Spain’s ferrous steel imports from United Kingdom remain unchanged on monthly basis at 0.06 MnT, followed by Portugal at 0.06 MnT in May’19.

Meanwhile Spain also imported ferrous scrap from Ireland, Germany, Russia and Turkey in smaller quantities in May’19.

Spain finish long imports remain stable M-o-M in May’19- Nation’s finish long steel imports accounted for 0.1 MnT in May’19, remained stable for three consecutive months.

However the same plummeted by 23% on yearly basis in May’19 over 0.13 in May’18.

During first five month’s (Jan-May)CY’19 nation’s finish long imports declined by 13% to 0.47 MnT as against 0.54 MnT in same time frame of CY’18.

Country-wise finish long steel imports in May’19- Spain’s finish long imports from Portugal tumbled by 20% to 0.04 MnT in May’19 over 0.05 MnT a month earlier.

Meanwhile imports from Italy remained stable M-o-M at 0.01 MnT in May’19, however nil imports were done from Turkey in May’19.

Meanwhile Spain also imported finish long steel from France, Germany, UK and Poland at 0.01 MnT each in May’19.

Spain finish flat imports up by 17% M-o-M in May’19- Nation’s finish flat imports witnessed at 0.74 MnT in May’19; upsurged by 17% as against 0.63 MnT a month ago.

As per market reports on 29th May’19, Arcelor Mittal announced production cuts in Europe owing to sluggish demand and significant surge in cheaper imports. This led to increase in Spain imports from major exporting nations.

However on yearly premise the same remain unchanged in May’19 over May’18.

During first five months (Jan-May)CY’19 nation’s imports inched down by 2% to 3.2 MnT which was 3.28 MnT in same time frame previous year.

Country-wise Spain finish flat imports in May’19- Spain majorly imports finish flat steel from France shot up by 25% at 0.15 MnT in May’19 over 0.12 MnT in preceding month.

Following this imports from Turkey plunged by 30% to 0.07 MnT in May’19 as compared to 0.1 MnT in previous month.

Meanwhile imports from Germany and Italy accounted for 0.09 MnT each in May’19.

Portugal, Belgium, India and Netherlands also exported finish flat steel to Spain in smaller quantities in May’19.
