While China’s graphite electrode prices are continuing to fall over the past few months amid weak downstream demand and excess supplies in the market, Chinese companies are busy in setting up new electrodes capacities. As per the latest updates, Baoxin Carbon Co., Ltd. , located in Zhangjiagou Chemical Park of Fengcheng City is gearing up to start the production of electrodes in the upcoming month of September.
Baoxin Carbon is a project with a total investment of more than 500 million yuan and an annual output of 40,000 tonnes. It covers an area of 271 acres and is being constructed in three phases. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed and put into operation in September, and the second phase is expected to be completed and put into operation at the end of the year. After the project is completed, it will make full use of the advantages of Fengcheng resources, implement sustainable development strategies, and stimulate regional economic growth.
The company is affiliated to Liaoning Dantan Technology Group. The group is a carbon chain enterprise with four production bases including Xinxing Carbon, Baoshan Carbon, Baoxin Carbon and Baiqi Graphite Chemical Plant. It is included in ‘Top 100 Enterprises in Liaoning Province and ‘High-tech Enterprise in Liaoning Province’.
The main products of the company are artificial graphite electrodes, which are widely used in metallurgy, chemical industry, machinery and other industries due to their high strength, good electrical conductivity, good thermal shock resistance and low consumption. About 60% of the products are sold in 30 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China, and 40% are exported to 32 countries and regions such as Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, Europe, America and Africa. Production is currently ranked third in the domestic industry.
In 2018, the production (sales) of graphite electrode products reached 49,000 tonnes, the total industrial output value reached 3.2 billion yuan, and the total profit reached 1 billion yuan. In 2019, the production (sales) of graphite electrode products of enterprises is expected to reach 60,000 tonnes, the total industrial output value is expected to reach 4.2 billion yuan, and the total profit is expected to reach 1.335 billion yuan. The comprehensive strength of the enterprise will be further enhanced.
