Odisha contributes entirely towards Indian Chrome Ore production.
Dispatches of Chrome Ore by Odisha miners have increased by almost 12% in June’19 against May’19. TATA Steel remained the largest miner to dispatch 1,51,369 MT of Chrome Ore in Jun’19 which is 6% high as compared to the previous month. TATA Steel held 19% of the total quantity for captive use. Meanwhile, 22,945MT quantity was dispatched to Jindal Stainless. Dispatches were significantly high for Jindal Stainless, TS Alloys, Aarti Steels and FACOR.
OMC recorded a minor fall in total dispatches of Chrome Ore by 3% with total quantity of dispatch as 66,175MT in Jun’19. Jindal Stainless and Visa Steel were the two major companies to buy OMC Chrome Ore. Jindal Stainless accounted for 26% of the total OMC Chrome ore dispatches with 17,485MT quantity. Visa Steel accounted for 19% of the total OMC Chrome ore dispatches in Jun’19 with 12,461MT quantity. Dispatches for Jindal stainless and Visa Steel were decreased in Jun’19 by 23% and 10% respectively.
Dispatches of IMFA increased significantly from 15,403 in May’19 to 33,757MT in Jun’19. Dispatches from Balasore Alloys remained stable with 24,631MT quantity which was marginally higher than the previous month by 4%. Misirlal Mines increased their dispatches by 60% in the month of Jun’19 as compared to previous month. B.C. Mohanty and Sons dispatched 8,889MT in Jun’19 out of which 7,070MT was used for Captive use.
SteelMint assessed that the decline in dispatches were a result of the lackluster Ferro Chrome Market. As compared to the previous year the dispatches were low by 7%.
