As per recent data released by Philippines customs it is observed that the billet Imports rise by 76.1% in Mar’19 on monthly basis.
The nation has imported about 2,99,022 MT Billet in Mar’19 against 1,69,823 MT in Feb’19. On yearly basis in Mar’19 , imports registered a fall of 17.1% against 3,60,804 MT in Mar’18.
Russia stood as key exporter of Billet to the Philippines with a contribution of 45% i.e. at 135,580 MT followed by Vietnam at 48,364 MT & Malaysia at 33,810 MT. Inline, it was also noticed that billet imports from Vietnam increased by more than 300% M-o-M. Furthermore imports from Russia & Thailand incline by 26% & 88% M-o-M, respectively.
While in the first 3 months of CY19 (Jan-Mar), billet imports fall by 16.44% Y-o-Y & stood at 669,848 MT against same preceding last year (CY18,Jan-Mar) at 801,660 MT.
During 2019 (Jan-Mar), Russia (57.02%) remains the largest exporter of billet to Philippines, followed by Vietnam (14.99%), Malaysia (9.58%), Thailand (6.58%) & Turkey (3.11%)
In context to export prices, the export offers of 150*150 IS 2830 grade billet were at USD 420-425/MT FoB India, 125*125 3SP at USD 405-415/MT FoB Ukraine & 150*150 Q235 are at USD 430-435/MT FoB China.
