Australia: NPC Shipments up by 20.6% W-o-W

Coal Shipment from Newcastle Port up by 20.6% on week

Newcastle Port Corporation (NPC), world’s leading coking and non-coking coal export port’s shipment during week ended on 18 November 2013 increased by 20.6%, said port report.

During the week under review, NPC has shipped around 2.9 MnT of coal in a week and a total of 6.8 MnT of the material has been shipped to different destinations in the month so far.

As forecasted by the Port, around 11.1 MnT of Coal is expected to be shipped during the month ahead of low demand from the market and winter season. However, on current situation, port is estimating to ship around 11.2 MnT in November on the basis of actual shipped plus projected balance from Coal terminal.

The Port has also reported that during the week ended 18 November, 31 vessels entered in port for loading with an average waiting time of 0.9 days. However, during the preceding week around 32 vessels had entered the Port with an average waiting time of around 1.77 days.

At the end of the week, 7 vessels were loading Coal, no vessels were waiting to get loaded and 17 vessels were expected to reach the Port.

It has been noted that Australian coal prices of 6000 NAR Kcal/kg is at USD 83-84/MT, which dropped a little ahead of low coal demand from market and winter seasons.
