World’s one of the leading coal producers, US’s weekly coal production totaled approximately 19.8 million metric short tons (mmst). Production has increased by 2.4% in comparison to last week and raised 2.8% from comparable weeks in 2012, reported by the US government agency for the week ended on 9 Nov, 2013.
Coal production from east of the Mississippi River totaled 8.1 mmst and from west of the Mississippi River totaled 11.7 mmst.
United States total coal production including Coking, Non-coking, Anthracite reached to 861.5 mmst which dropped by 2.0% than 878.1 mmst in comparable year-to-date (YTD) coal production in 2012.
As per the EIA report at the week ended on 9 Nov, 2013 US produced 19.7 mmst Bituminous and Lignite coal. US also produced around 45,000 short tonnes Anthracite coal, which is mainly produced in Pennsylvania coal fields.
