Northern India Stockists Sourcing Billet from Central & Eastern Regions

Mandi Gobindgarh based in Northern India – one of the major buyer of Billets is presently sourcing billets from eastern and central regions.

As per stockiest in Mandi, they bought decent quantities of billet from Durgapur, eastern India in the price range of INR 31,500-31,700/MT ex-plant, which is equivalent to INR 34,000-34,200/MT FoR (landed) Mandi.

Similarly few deals were reported from Central region, Raigarh at the price range of INR 31,000-31,100/MT and freight cost to Mandi reported at INR 2,800-3,000/MT. Hence landed cost to Mandi would be around INR 34,000/MT.

Mandi is one of the major hubs of medium-small scale re-rollers and close to 200 mills are operational currently, which on an average require about 10,000-15,000 MT Ingot/Billet to produce patra and finished steel products.

As per sources in the total requirement of Ingot/Billet, close to 50-70% is produced in local market, while remaining quantity is sourced from central & eastern parts of the country.

Today the billet offers for 100*100 mm, induction grade in major markets is at INR 31,300-31,500/MT ex-Raipur, INR 30,800-31,000/MT ex-Raigarh, INR 31,700-31,900/MT in Durgapur, INR 31,000-31,200/MT ex-Rourkela, INR 33,200-33,400/MT in Ahmedabad & INR 34,700-34,900/MT ex-Mandi Gobindgarh.
