Northern Coalfields Ltd, the mining arm of Coal India Ltd has become only the third company in the country to attain 100 MnT coal output in a fiscal year.
The company had achieved the 100 MnT mark in the current FY19 as on 26 Mar’19, 5 days ahead of the fiscal completion.
Breaking its own record, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) had earlier created a new milestone in coal production by mining 93.10 MnT of coal till 3 Mar’19, which then was the highest ever in a financial year since inception of the company.
NCL’s previous best output was recorded at 93.02 MnT in FY18.
However, with a production of 100 MnT coal, NCL has now joined the elite list along with SECL and MCL. Notably, SECL and MCL are the two largest coal producing subsidiaries of CIL, which produces 100 MnT coal on a regular basis every fiscal.
NCL had been entrusted with the responsibility of producing 100 MnT of coal and dispatching 100.50 MnT of coal in FY19.
Company’s dispatch also crossed 100 MnT. Till Tuesday, the company had dispatched 100.14 MnT of coal which is very close to the set target. The company is expected to complete dispatch targets too before the end of the financial year.
NCL, a Miniratna company of Government of India, is headquartered in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh, which operates through its 10 highly mechanised opencast mines spread across Singrauli and Sonebhadra districts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
