Indian metallurgical coke imports have increased by 5.88% to 0.43 million tonnes (MnT) in Feb’19, as compared to 0.41 MnT in Jan’19, as per the latest vessel lineup data compiled by CoalMint Research.
Moreover, on a year-on-year basis, India’s total met coke imports have surged by a whopping 55% in Feb’19 from 0.28 MnT of met coke imports recorded in Feb’18.

Country Wise India Met Coke Import in Feb’19:
A country-wise break-up of the monthly import data reveals that the major proportion of the shipments originated from Russia, accounting for 24% share.
Notably, Indian met coke imports from Russia jumped by 189% M-o-M to 0.10 MnT in Feb’19, against 0.04 MnT in Jan’19.
Following Russia, China and Poland constituted 16% shares each of the Indian met coke imports in Feb’19.
Indian met coke imports from China rose by 33.5% M-o-M to 0.07 MnT in Feb’19, against 0.05 MnT in Jan’19.
However, Indian met coke imports from Poland fell by 46.2% M-o-M to 0.07 MnT in Feb’19, against 0.13 MnT in Jan’19.
