While promoting the exports we should not make the same mistake which the United Arab Emirates made in the plastics recycling industry. It set up the recycling industry without ensuring the availability of a reasonable quantity of scrap”

–For the proper recycling of the Scrap Material in India, the earliest implementation of Material Recycling Policy is the need of the Industry. Over the period of time, Niti Aayog has initiated the work on the Material Recycling Policy draft which is now available for Union Cabinet discussion and further approval. MRAI and KPMG worked together as a domain knowledge partner for the preparation of the National Material Recycling Policy.

As per the NITI Aayog update, if this policy rolls out, the potential to generate substantial gross value addition to the economy will be approximately about INR 10 Lac crore by 2025.

BSRM booked 4 cargoes around 160,000 MT in Jan’19 on good demand. However, serious port congestion issues persist.

–Countries like South Korea, Bangladesh, Vietnam and South America are likely to remain emerging markets for ferrous scrap in 2019. Also Egypt scrap consumption is on rapid pace
