Indian Finished Steel Exports Down 38% During Apr-Dec’18 – Govt Data

According to provisional data released by Joint Plant Committee (JPC) , India’s finished steel exports stood at 0.367 MnT in Dec’18 up by 7.9% M-o-M basis as compared to 0.34 MnT over Nov’18. However on yearly basis the same plunged by 62% compared to Dec’17.

During Apr-Dec’18, Indian finished steel export volumes stood at 4.675 MnT, down by 38% Y-o-Y over similar time frame of previous year.

India’s crude steel output inched down in Dec’18 – Indian crude steel output stood at 8.396 MnT in Dec’18 dipped down by 0.3% as compared to 8.968 MnT in previous month. However on yearly basis the same plunged by 1.4% over Dec’17.

During Apr-Dec’18 nation’s crude steel output stood at 78.984 MnT, registering growth of 4.3% against similar time frame of previous year.

SAIL, RINL, TSL, Essar, JSWL & JSPL together produced 47.46 MnT crude steel during Apr-Dec’18 higher by 8.8% compared to similar time frame of previous year.

India finished steel imports rises by 6% M-o-M in Dec’18 – India’s finished steel imports stood at 0.548 MnT in Dec’18 registering a climb of 6% compared to 0.517 MnT in Nov’18. However it is expected that import volumes may rise in coming months on competitive offers from Japan and China

However on yearly basis the same was reduced by 2.5% in Dec’18 over Dec’17.

During Apr-Dec’18 nation’s finished steel imports stood at 5.908 MnT less by 3.1% against corresponding time frame of previous year.

India’s consumption of finished steel climbed by 9% M-o-M in Dec’18- India’s finished steel consumption got acclaimed by 9% to 8.34 MnT in Dec’18.

Meanwhile on yearly basis the same witness increase of 9% over Dec’17.

During Apr-Dec’18 finished steel consumption grew by 8.4% to 71.86 MnT as compared to similar time period of previous year under the influence of a rising indigenous supply.
