India: Tata Metaliks Roll-over Foundry Pig iron Prices for Jan 2019

Tata Metaliks Limited (TML), India’s one of the major foundry grade pig iron manufacturer has rolled over its prices for Jan’19 deliveries after a sharp fall in Dec’18 by INR 700/MT (USD 10).

“Demand is average presently, also as the assumptions are high for positive outlook, the prices are unaltered as of now” one of the official stated.

The latest offers for high silicon, foundry grade pig iron reported same as prevailing in Dec’18 at INR 33,100/MT (USD 473). The offers are excluding 18% GST & ex-plant, Kharagpur, East India.

Tata Metaliks Limited is a subsidiary of Tata Steel which was established in 1990. It has its manufacturing facilities at Kharagpur, West Bengal, India which produces pig iron and ductile iron pipes. The plant’s annual hot metal production capacity is 500,000 MT out of which about 200,000 MT is converted into Ductile Iron (DI) pipes and the rest into pig iron.

The company’s pig iron sales went up Q-o-Q in Q2 FY19 at 83,984 MT than the 68,393 MT in Q1 FY19.

Similar growth being marked in Pipe sales Q-o-Q in Q2 FY19 at 50,734 MT as against 47,043 MT in Q1 FY19 & 45,630 MT during Q2 FY18.
