Billet imports to Thailand reported three months low in Nov’18 & decline of 12.27% M-o-M, the trade statistics released by the Thailand custom reported.
In the month of Nov’18, the nation has imported around 116,741 MT billet against 133,073 MT in Oct’18. Prior to this, on M-o-M in Oct’18 it remains downside against 269,668 MT in Sep’18. And in Nov’18 Billet import recorded the lowest volume of 2018 (Jan-Nov).
On Y-o-Y in Nov 2018 imports registered a fall of 23.67% against 152,955 MT in Nov 2017.
Iran remains the major billet exporter to Thailand, however in Nov’18 billet export has recorded low since two months. And in Nov’18, Russia was the major billet exporter to Thailand which exported around 85,129 MT (72.92%), followed by Indonesia & Japan whose exports stood at 20,147 MT & 9,984 MT, respectively.
While the nation has imported about 2,074,205 MT Billet in Jan-Nov’18 against 1,743,621 MT in Jan-Nov’17, incline by 18.96% on yearly premises.
During this period (Jan-Nov’18), Iran has exported approximately 44.01% billet (912,790 MT) to the nation, followed by Japan (494,939 MT), Russia (181,684 MT) & India (101,626 MT). Prior to this in the same preceding last year, Iran’s billet export to the nation was around 732,312 MT, surge almost 24.64% on yearly basis.
— Thailand ferrous scrap imports decline by 7% M-o-M in Nov’18 & stood at 138,870 MT as against 148,960 MT in Oct’18.
— In the month of November 2018, the crude steel production of Thailand was around 300,000 MT and in CY18 (Jan-Nov’18) it was approximately 4,139,320 MT.
Pig iron imports from Russia & India decreased
In Nov’18, Thailand has imported around 8,904 MT, recorded a sharp fall of 88.95% against 80,562 MT in Oct’18. Russia & India remains the largest Pig iron supplier to Thailand & in the month, imports from the nations decline by 85% & 96% to 6,950 MT & 1,000 MT.
During 2018 (Jan-Nov), Russia (57.33%) remains the largest exporter of Pig iron to Thailand, followed by India (32.03%), Malaysia (6.58%) & Brazil (1.77%)
In context to export prices, global offers for steel grade pig Iron is assessed at USD 355-365/MT FoB India & USD 340-345/MT FOB Brazil.
