SAIL, India’s largest and state-owned steelmaker, has floated a global tender to procure a total quantity of 55,000 MT Shredded Scrap (Approx. 14,000 MT once in three months) for its Salem and Durgapur plants.
The tender floated is for Alloy Steel Plant(ASP), Durgapur and Salem Steel Plant(SSP), Salem in which ASP required 15,000 MT whereas SSP will require 40,000 MT Shredded Scrap for the period of One year.
The overseas bidders are required to quote per MT price of the scrap in USD on CFR Chennai Port basis/ICD Durgapur whereas the domestic bidders are required to quote per MT price of the scrap in INR on F.O.R-SSP basis / F.O.R Durgapur basis. The price should be quoted separately for each plant.

Tenderer should have successfully supplied a minimum of 16,500 MT of Non-Alloy Steel Melting scrap ( Shredded) as per US ISRI code 211, executed through a single or multiple orders in any one of the last five calendar years i.e 2014 or 2015 or 2016 or 2017 or 2018.
Validity: The bidder shall keep his Techno Commercial offer valid for acceptance by SAIL / SSP for Twelve (12) months from the date of first tender opening and the on-line sealed price bid submitted in stage-1 of RA / price discovered through RA, will be valid for ten (10) working days from the date of submission.

Global Shredded scrap prices remain under pressure. In India, Shredded scrap in containers assessment stood at USD 325/MT, CFR Nhava Sheva.
