Africa: Legend Mining starts Iron ore drilling in Cameroon

August 04,

Australia’s Legend Mining said on Wednesday it had begun drilling for Iron ore at its Ngovayang concession in Cameroon, one of two major Iron ore developments underway in the country.

It is believed that Africa could become a major world source of iron in coming years because of the huge investments made in the region.

Legend gained access to the Ngovayang project near Eseka in western Cameroon and hopes to find significant quantities of Itabirite and higher-grade direct shipping ore.

Australia’s Sundance Resources is also developing Iron ore in Cameroon, targeting construction of its Mbalam mine next year with operations starting in 2012.
