United States, recorded iron ore imports at 0.53 MnT in Oct’18, up 43% as against 0.37 MnT in Sep’18. However, on yearly basis, imports recorded 26% increase as against Oct’17 imports at 0.42 MnT.
For the duration Jan-Oct’18, total imports by US marked at 4.38 MnT, down 16% as compared to 5.24 MnT for last year same duration (Jan-Oct’17).
US crude steel production up 4% in Oct’18
United States crude steel production recorded 4% rise in Oct’18 at 7.57 MnT as against Sep’18 production at 7.26 MnT. On yearly basis, output increased 11% as compared to 6.85 MnT in Oct’17.
Brazillian exports to US surge significantly in Oct’18
Brazil contributed 85% of total US iron ore imports for the month at 0.45 MnT, up by almost four folds as against being 0.12 MnT a month ago. Ukraine stood second largest exporter at 0.05 MnT followed by Canada at 0.03 MnT.

United States Iron Ore Exports down marginally in Oct’18
United States iron ore exports for the month of Oct’18 witnessed at 1.27 MnT, down 2% on monthly basis as against 1.3 MnT in Sep’18. However, on yearly basis exports witnessed 23% rise as against 1.03 MnT in Oct’17.
US exports for Jan-Oct’18 witnessed at 11.02 MnT, up 23% as against Jan-Oct’17 at 8.98 MnT.
United States exports to Canada Up slightly in Oct’18
Canada stood the largest importer of iron ore from US in the month of Oct’18 at 1.03 MnT, contributing 81% of total exports share. Japan stood the second largest importer at 0.17 MnT (down 35% M-o-M), followed by Germany at 0.05 MnT.
