Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has increased the prices of its products after a gap of four months. This has been done by cutting back on discounts.
Prices for flat products had been increased by Rs. 1,000 a tonne across categories. However, the prices of long products and a category known as PAT (pipes, electricals and tinplates) would remain unchanged, official sources said.
JSW Steel, India’s No. 3 producer, has raised prices by 3-4 % on higher international prices and input cost, effective Sept. 1, said Director Jayant Acharya.
Ispat Industries have also raised prices by Rs 1,000 per tonne to maintain import parity as “Indian prices are still much lower,” said Vinod Garg, Executive Director.
