Sweden, major European iron ore exporter recorded Sep’18 exports at 1.64 MnT. The exports depicted fall of 15% on monthly basis as against 1.94 MnT in Aug’18.
On yearly basis, the exports recorded fall of 18% as against 2.01 MnT in Sep’17.
In CY’18 (Jan-Sep’18), Sweden iron ore exports witnessed 17.21 MnT, almost stable as against 17.28 MnT for the same duration last year (Jan-Sep’17).
In Sep’18, an agglomerated (pellets/concentrate) iron ore exports have recorded 15% decrease M-o-M to 1.4 MnT against 1.65 MnT in Aug’18. On yearly basis, exports dropped 8% against Sep’17 exports at 1.53 MnT.
The non-agglomerated (fines/lumps) iron ore exports recorded at 0.24 MnT in Sep’18, down 17% M-o-M as against 0.29 MnT in Aug’18. on yearly basis, exports decreased 50% as against 0.48 MnT in Sep’17.
Sweden exports to Germany dropped 28% on monthly basis
Germany remained the largest importer of iron ore from Sweden at 0.55 MnT, contributing 34% share of total Sweden’s export for the month. The imports witnessed 28% drop on monthly basis as against being 0.76 MnT in Aug’18.
Saudi Arabia stood second largest importer at 0.35 MnT followed by Finland at 0.18 MnT.
