NMDC’s steel plant at Jagdalpur Bastar received the first rake of imported coal at its newly constructed plant. The plant also inaugurated RHMS (raw material handling system) which is at commissioning stage. RHMS consisting of wagon tipplers are the crucial part of the integrated steel plant.
As per our sources, a total of 80,000 tons of Australian coking coal has been imported and offloaded in Vizag port last week and out of that 4,102 tons of coal has been received in 59 wagons. The train reached at Amaguda station on Monday morning in the presence of senior officials of NISP.
The intake of coking coal indicates that production is soon to start, yet many of the plants are not in the commissioning stage. Coking coal is basically used in coke ovens to convert coking coal to coke. Coking coal heated in coke ovens in absence of air to produce coke, which is an important substance of blast furnace.
