Pet Coke Import Offers Reduce Further; Domestic Prices Unaltered

Petroleum coke import price levels have further dropped, but moderately, over the last price assessments reported during this month.

However, there has been no change in prices of pet coke in the domestic market — the price revision is due on the 1st of next month, when major players like Reliance Industries, Nayara Energy, Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals, etc. are expected to declare their updated prices for Dec’18.

The overall consumption of pet coke is expected to increase further gradually when the cement demand picks up. This may give a thrust for imported pet coke to supplement the overall demand in the domestic market, majority being cement industries for fuel grades.

For anode grades, imports by calciners have already been allowed vide notification dated 23 Oct’18 by Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) based on order dated 9 Oct’18 by the Hon’ble Supreme Court, which will also further contribute to growth in import of pet coke.
