India Pet Coke Import Down 14% M-o-M in Oct’18 and 45% YTD in CY18

India’s petroleum coke imports have fallen by 13.97% to 0.27 million tonnes (MnT) in Oct’18, as compared to 0.31 MnT in Sep’18, as per the vessel lineup data compiled by CoalMint Research.

Moreover, on a year-on-year basis, the Oct’18 imports have decreased by 75.93% from 1.11 MnT in Oct’17.

Furthermore, on a year-to-date basis, Indian pet coke imports have totaled 5.70 MnT in the first ten months of this year during Jan’18-Oct’18, down 45.34% against 10.44 MnT of pet coke imports in the corresponding period of the previous year, Jan’17-Oct’17.

Country Wise India Pet Coke Import in Oct’18:

A country-wise break-up of the monthly import data reveals that the major proportion of the Indian pet coke import shipments continued to be originated from USA, constituting the highest share of around 38%.

Notably, Indian pet coke imports from USA witnessed a modest rise of 3.3% to 100,000 MT in Oct’18, against 96,807 MT in Sep’18.

Following USA, the imports from Saudi Arabia accounted for 36% share.

More importantly, Indian pet coke imports from Saudi Arabia fell by 26.7% to 0.13 MnT in Oct’18, against 0.10 MnT in Sep’18.

Imports from China contributed 9% share of the Indian pet coke imports in Oct’18.
