Billet imports to Turkey reported an incline of 67% in the month of Sep’18 after continuous fall since Mar’18, the trade statistics released by the Turkey custom reported.
In the month of Sep’18, the nation has imported around 393,774 MT billet against 235,872 MnT in Aug’18. Prior to this, on M-o-M in Aug’18 it remains downside against 278,071 MT in Jul’18.
Russia was the major billet exporter to Turkey in Sep’18, which exported around 222,318 MT (56.45%), surge by 53% M-o-M; followed by Ukraine, Netherlands & United Kingdom whose exports to the nation stood at 68,609 MT, 40,995 MT & 19,080 MT, respectively.
Further, on Y-o-Y in Sep’18 imports registered a gain of 6% against 373,027 MT in Sep’17. While the nation has imported about 3,821,000 MT Billet in Jan-Sep’18 against 3,222,481 MT in Jan-Sep’17, incline by 18.57% on yearly premises.
During Jan-Sep’18, Russia has exported approximately 49.08% billet (1,875,389 MT) to the nation, followed by Ukraine (783,006 MT) & Brazil (451,726 MT). Prior to this in the same preceding last year, Russia’s billet export to the nation was around 1,241,875 MT, surge almost 51% on yearly basis. While in CY 2017 (Jan-Dec) the Turkey’s billet import was around 4,639,603 MT.
In the month of September 2018,Turkey’s crude steel production decline by 5.87% & stood at 2,823,278 MT which was the lowest production volume in the duration of Jan-Sep’18. Meanwhile, in CY17 the figure of crude steel production stood at 37,331,377 MT, & 33,163,131 MT in CY16.
