India: SCCL’s Coal Production Up 30% Y-o-Y in Oct’18

Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), the coal miner operating in Telangana, has reported its highest monthly coal production and dispatch for the FY19 in Oct’18.

SCCL’s coal production stood 5.27 MnT in Oct’18. Monthly output in Oct’18 had increased 3% M-o-M from 5.12 MnT in Sep’18.

Besides, the coal company had noted its biggest gain for the current fiscal on the y-o-y basis. Production was up 30% Y-o-Y from 4.04 MnT recorded in Oct’17.

During the first 7 months of FY19 (Apr’18-Oct’18), SCCL’s coal production has recorded a growth of 6% to 33.77 MnT compared with the corresponding period’s total of 31.82 MnT managed in FY18. The year to day production, however, was 6% short of its target of 35.82 MnT.

SCCL’s coal dispatch increased 15% both on the monthly and yearly basis to clock its highest total for FY19. Dispatch during Oct’18 was 5.89 MnT, against 5.13 MnT in Sep’18 and 5.1 MnT in Oct’17.

SCCL’s coal dispatch during each of the 7-months in FY19 has been maintained higher than the corresponding production. Consequently, company’s total dispatch of 36.93 MnT in the 7-month period was 9% more than the yearly output.

Area-wise Performance in Oct’18:
Out of the total monthly production, 0.76 MnT coal was produced from Underground projects, while the remaining 4.52 MnT coal was procured from the Open Cast projects.

Highest coal production was recorded in Kothagudem area, which had solely attained its monthly production target amongst the 11 mining areas of SCCL.

All the mining areas had recorded growth in monthly production except- Yellandu, Ramagundam-III and Bhoopalpalli.

Highest coal dispatch during the month was recorded from Kothagudem area, followed by Yellandu, Ramagundam-III, Ramagundam-II and Ramagundam-I.

Coal Supply to Power Plants:
SCCL’s coal dispatch to the power plants witnessed significant growth during the month.

Coal supplies to Singareni power plant (STPP) were up 21% M-o-M to 0.614 MnT in Oct’18, highest total for the FY19.

While supplies to NTPC’s power plants were at a 5-month high, recorded at 1.054 MnT in Oct’18.
