According to latest customs data, USA flat steel imports which includes (7208 HR coils/Plates,7209 CR coils,7210,7212 GP/GC and 7225 electrical sheets) imports stood at 0.86 MnT in Aug’18 fell by 10% M-o-M against 0.96 MnT in previous month.
However on yearly premise,flat steel imports drop by 17% in Aug’18 against 1.04 MnT in Aug’17.
During first eight month of CY18 (Jan-Aug) nation has imported 7.55 MnT of flat steel lower by 36% against 11.82 MnT in same time frame of previous year.
Post imposition of Section 232 by President Donald Trump on steel imports by 25% on steel leads to decline in nation’s flat steel import volumes.Thus nation’s major exporting nations are looking for new steel consuming markets to export huge quantities of their produce.

Country-Wise USA flat steel imports in Aug’18 – Canada was the largest flat steel exporter and has procured 11% to 0.30 MnT in Aug’18 which was 0.27 MnT in previous month.
Second largest exporter was South Korea at 0.12 MnT in Aug’18 ,higher by 20% against 0.10 MnT in Jul’18.
Another largest exporter of flat steel from USA was Mexico which stood at 0.07 MnT which remain stable for past two months.Other major exporters include Vietnam,Germany,Turkey and Japan.

However on yearly basis the same plunged by 24% in Aug’18 as compared to 0.49 MnT in Aug’17.Meanwhile Mexico and Canada were the two largest exporter of USA in Aug’18.
