Billet exports from India considerably rose during Aug’18 and stood at all time high, as per data maintained by SteelMint, since Jan 2013.
India exported about 326,404 MT Billet in Aug’18, surge by 157% M-o-M as against 126,696 MT in Jul’18.
The monthly Billet exports has gain momentum in line with few bulk exports through the India’s largest steel producer – JSW Steel.
JSW has shipped 4 bulk billet exports shipment to the South-East & European nations in Aug’18 of total quantity at 58,000 MT, as per vessel line up data.
Further India’s total Billet exports during the period of Jan-Aug’18 being rise slightly by 4.7% and stood at 1,667,857 MT, which was about 1,592,546 MT in Jan-Aug’17.
— Nepal remained the favorable destination of Indian Billet exports during Jan-Aug’18 with a contribution of 749,403 MT (44.9%), followed by Thailand at 167,284 MT (10%) & Malaysia at 155,109 MT (9.3%).

Sponge iron exports surge 22% M-o-M in Aug’18
India exported at 49,924 MT Sponge iron in Aug’18, gain by 22.7% M-o-M as against 40,898 Mt in Jul’18.
Meanwhile the increase was sharply during Jan-Aug’18 close to 45% over rising melting capacities in Bangladesh. India’s total sponge iron exports reached at 434,804 MT in Jan-Aug’18, rise by 44.1% as against same period last year at 301,717 MT Jan-Aug’17.
Bangladesh stood as largest importer of Indian Sponge iron during the Jan-Aug’18 with imports of 233,879 MT (53.7%) followed by Bhutan at 81,653 MT (18.7%) & Nepal at 68,013 MT (15.6%).
