Finish Long Steel Imports in Turkey plunged lowest in Aug 2018 since Jan 2013, as per data retained by SteelMint. The imports have been slump in line with sharp depreciation of Lira against US dollar, which kept buyers away for fresh purchases in Aug’18.
As per the custom data, the nation has imported about 43,746 MT Finish long steel in Aug’18 against 83,957 MT in Jul’18, down by 47.89% M-o-M, also it stood lowest since Jan’13. On contrary Y-o-Y basis, imports have seen lessen by 37.97% against 70,527 MT in August 2017.
Under Finish Long commodities following HS Codes has been considered – Bar & Rod (HS Code 7213 & 7214), MS Wire (HS Code 7217) along with Angle & Shapes (HS Code 7215 & 7216).
Sub-Commodity Wise – Rebar registered with major proportionate and reported at 29,657 MT in Aug’18 against 40,863 MT in Jul’18; down by 27.42% followed by Structure at 11,035 MT in Aug’18 against 37,666 MT in Jul’18; slump by 70.71% and lastly Wire rod at 3,054 MT in Aug’18 against 5,428 MT in Jul’18; fall by 43.74%.
Country Wise – In Aug’18, the major exporter of Finish Long Steel to Turkey was Spain – 14,785 MT, down by 8.34% against 16,131 MT in Jul’18 followed by Germany – 5,160 MT up by 34.76% against 3,829 MT in Jul’18 and Italy stood at 4,505 MT declined by 29.46% against 6,387 MT in Jul’18.
