China’s iron ore spot market remained steady on Tuesday after strong gains last week, with domestic traders attempting to sell more.

Indian ore fines with 63.5 percent iron content were offered at $175-$177 per tonne on Tuesday, cost & freight delivered to China, unchanged from Monday, traders said.

A few domestic traders have started selling more materials available on hand to steel mills after fast gains last week, traders said.

Two major iron ore indexes, The Steel Index (TSI) and Metal Bulletin Iron Ore Index (MBIOI), moved up on Monday and still held on a 7-month high.

TSI 62 Fe benchmark rose $0.5 to $169.6 per tonne on Monday, and the MBIOI 62 Fe benchmark rebounded to $167.37 per tonne after falling for two past sessions.
