India Met Coke Import Down 13% M-o-M in Sep’18, But Up 26% YTD

Indian metallurgical coke imports have fallen by 13.27% to 0.40 million tonnes (MnT) in Sep’18, as compared to 0.46 MnT in Aug’18, as per the vessel lineup data compiled by CoalMint Research.

However, on a year-on-year basis, the Sep’18 imports have increased by 66.69% from 0.24 MnT in Sep’17.

Moreover, on a year-to-date basis, India’s met coke imports have totaled 3.64 MnT in the first nine months of this year during Jan’18-Sep’18, up 25.76% compared with 2.90 MnT of met coke imports in the corresponding period of the previous year, Jan’17-Sep’17.

PRICE ASSESSMENTS

The latest import offers for the 64% CSR met coke are assessed at around USD 364/MT FOB China, while offers for the 62% CSR met coke are assessed at around USD 355/MT FOB China.

For Indian buyers, these offers amount to USD 381.50/MT and USD 372.50/MT respectively on CNF India basis.
