Iranian Billet Export Increase by 42% in Current Persian Year

Iran, one of the largest billet exporter in MENA region has exported 1,790,224 MT billet and bloom during the first five months of current Persian year (21-Mar till 22-Aug’18). As per the data released by Iranian Customs, export of billet during the period was reportedly up by 42% Y-o-Y against 1,258,094 MT during the same period of last Persian year. GCC and Far East Asia was the major destination for Iranian billet.

United Arab Emirates was the largest importer of Iranian billet, the nation imported 432,626 MT during the 5 months of current Persian year by registering a growth of 215% Y-o-Y against 137,265 MT imported in last Persian year.

Egypt was the second largest importer, the nation imported 310,363 MT during the current Persian year by registering a growth of 314% Y-o-Y against 75,019 MT imported in last Persian year.

Thailand was the third largest importer, the nation imported 200,031 MT during the period by registering a downfall of 47% Y-o-Y against 378,256 MT imported in last Persian year.

Major Iranian Billet Exporters

Khouzastan Steel Company (KSC) was the largest exporter of billet and bloom during the period despite of the fact that the company didn’t exported any billet/bloom in the current month. The company exported 580,370 MT in current year, registered a downfall of 32% Y-o-Y against 853,393 MT exported in last Persian year.

South Kaveh Steel Company (SKSCO) was the second largest exporter of billet, the company exported 365,000 MT billet during the period, registered a growth of 23% Y-o-Y against 296,748 MT exported in last Persian year.

Khorasan Steel was the third largest exporter of bloom, the company exported 75,189 MT during the period.

Iranian Steel Exports to Iraq Afghanistan Rise Significantly

Iran exported 998,000 tons of steel worth more than $546 million to neighboring countries Iraq and Afghanistan during the first five months of the current Persian year. Exports to these nations were up by 95% and 136% Y-o-Y.

Afghanistan has suspended its trade relations with Iran since late Sep’18. Afghanistan Customs Department has imposed ban on the import of Iranian oil products, cement, steel products, tiles and ceramics is related to Farah border crossing in Iran’s South Khorasan Province only. The ban on import from Iran is likely to affect Iran steel export.
