Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), the coal miner operating in Telangana, has reported an uptick in coal production during Sep’18, thereby ending a 3-month declining streak.
SSCL’s coal production had witness a remarkable growth of 17% on the month to 5.12 MnT in Sep’18, compared with 4.38 MnT in Aug’18. Notably, output figure in Sep’18 was the highest monthly total attained in the current fiscal year.
Besides, the month of Sep’18 also marked the highest growth year-on-year for FY19, where production had rose 13% from 4.54 MnT in Sep’17.
Total coal production during the first 6 months of FY19 (Apr’18-Sep’18) has increased by 2.5% Y-o-Y to 28.5 MnT, over 27.78 MnT recorded in the corresponding period last year.
SCCL’s coal dispatch also rebounded in Sep’18, after falling for the past 3 months.
The company’s coal dispatch of 5.13 MnT in Sep’18 increased 14% M-o-M from 4.49 MnT in Aug’18, which was also 9% higher on the year compared with 4.7 MnT in Sep’17.
SCCL’s total coal dispatch during the 6-month period of FY19 has grew 3.74% on the year to 31.05 MnT, drawing almost close to its target of 31.18 MnT set for the period.
Area-wise Performance in Sep’18:
Out of the total monthly production, 0.71 MnT coal was produced from Underground projects, while the remaining 4.4 MnT coal was procured from the Open Cast projects.
Highest coal production was recorded in Kothagudem followed by Yellandu, monthly coal output at both these areas in Sep’18 had hit their respective highest total for the FY19.
Out of the 11 mining areas of SCCL, monthly output at Adriyala projects had seen the only fall in Sep’18.

Coal Supply to Power Plants:
SCCL’s coal supply to NTPC’s power plants ends its downward trend which had started from the beginning of FY19. Coal dispatch to NTPC surged 34% M-o-M to 0.995 MnT in Sep’18 against 0.74 MnT in Aug’18.
Coal dispatch to Singareni power plant was 0.509 MnT in Sep’18, up 4% M-o-M from 0.492 MnT in Aug’18.
