Iran- one of the largest steel exporter in MENA region is facing US Sanctions, owing to which many of the importing nations have suspended their trades with Iran. Recently, Afghanistan which is one of the biggest trade partner of Iran has suspended its trade relations with Iran.
Afghanistan Customs Department has imposed ban on the import of Iranian oil products, cement, steel products, tiles and ceramics is related to Farah border crossing in Iran’s South Khorasan Province only.
According to Mr. Ali Shariati, a member of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture “Afghanistan Customs Department has banned the import of above mentioned commodities from Iran, by adhering to the sanctions reimposed by the United States on Iran.”
According to Mr. Mozaffar Alikhani, Secretary-General of Iran-Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce “The restrictions have been enforced to prevent violations of customs regulations in the absence of an online monitoring system between the two neighboring countries at the border terminal.”
Iran Exported 700,000 MT Finished Steel In Last Persian Year
During the last Persian year (21 Mar’17-20 Mar’18), Iran has exported more than 700,000 MT of finished long steel. Where as during the 4 months of current Persian year the nation has already exported more than 460,000 MT finished long steel from Iran.
Afghanistan imported more than 50,000 MT of finished flat steel from Iran in last Persian year, where as during the 4 months of current Persian year, the nation imported around 17,600 MT finished flat steel from Iran.
