Trade statistics released by Canada custom shows that the iron ore exports by the country recorded at 4.84 MnT in July’18. The exports depicted significant increase to more than two folds as compared to June’18 exports at 2 MnT. However, on yearly basis exports witnessed 21% increase as against 4.01 MnT in July’17.
For the duration Jan-July’18, Canadian exports marked at 21.17 MnT , down by 5% as compared to 22.32 MnT last year for the same duration.
The non-agglomerated ore (Lumps and Fines) depicted sharp increase M-o-M to 3.33 MnT in Jul’18 as against 1.4 MnT in Jun’18. The Y-o-Y exports marked 25% rise as against July’17 exports at 2.65 MnT.
Agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) exports in Jul’18 witnessed at 1.51 MnT, up by more than two folds M-o-M as compared to Jun’18 exports at 0.59 MnT. On yearly basis, exports depicted 11% increase as against Jul’17 exports at 1.36 MnT.
China iron ore imports from Canada increased three folds M-o-M
China marked the largest importer of Canadian iron ore in July’18 with total imports at 0.92 MnT, up by around three folds on monthly basis as against 0.3 MnT a month before.
France stood second largest importer at 0.78 MnT (up more than two folds M-o-M), followed by Japan at 0.7 MnT (up more than twice on monthly basis).
Netherland, UK and Germany marked imports at 0.45 MnT, 0.32 MnT, and 0.24 MnT respectively as against being nil a months before.
