It seems to be an unwelcome news for coal users as they might face shortage of coal due to mining restrictions imposed on CIL by environment ministry.
“We could not take up new mining in nine coal-mining areas due to restrictions laid down by MOEF. Owing to this, we will fall short in our production targets,” CIL chairman Partha S. Bhattacharjee said, adding, “We are pressing the government for hike in coal price within the fiscal, let’s see.”
As imports is almost thrice of the domestic price, it has made buyers especially thermal coal users largely dependent on domestic coal supply.
