Director (Commercial) of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) P Raychaudhury will continue working on the post of Chairman Cum Managing Director (In charge) of state-owned steel company for next three months with effect from September 1, 2018, says the order of the minister of steel, GOI.
The order says Raychaudhury will be continuing on the post till a regular incumbent joins or until further orders, whichever is earliest.
Before this, on June 1, 2018, he was assigned the additional charges for the post of CMD discharging formal CMD of RINL P Madhusudan retired on May 31, 2018.
In the last week of March 2018, Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) which selects candidates for senior positions at public sector units shortlisted and recommended RINL’s Director (Operations) Pradosh Kumar Rath for the top job at RINL after conducting an interview of six applicants. Rath had taken charge as the Director (Operations) after his elevation from Executive Director (Works) on October 10, 2017.
According to media reports, Rath’s appointment to the post of CMD is subject to clearance by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) Chaired by Prime Minister. Some reports say CVC has given nod approving his name for the post and it is just a matter of time before the ACC approves his appointment.
Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd, also known as Vizag Steel, is a corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant a PSE under the Ministry of Steel. RINL had reported saleable steel output at around 4.5 MnT in last fiscal 2017- 18 and targeting to achieve at 5.5 MnT in the current fiscal year. The company is also targeting to achieve the production capacity near to 6.3 MnT in FY 18-19.
