Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MAHAGENCO) has invited online bids for the supply of 2 MnT imported coal at its new units at Koradi, Chandrapur and Bhusawal power plants.
The coal procurement would be done on e-tendering based on reverse auction process, which should comprise two bid system i.e. separate bids for technical/commercial and price bid.
The state utility has intended the delivery of coal on FOR (Freight-on-Road) basis at its plant’s location.
Interested bidders are thereby requested to register themselves by paying vender register fee of INR 5000 (Excluding GST) and tender fee of INR 25,000 (Excluding GST) before 10 Sep’18. Bid specifications shall be available after the payment of fees.
Besides the company has also invited offer from overseas bidders which can pay the requisite sum through international debit/credit cards.
Stock Watch at the Plants:
Mahagenco has not imported any coal so far in the FY19 (till Jul’18) and is generally competent with the domestic coal supplies from CIL.
However, the power producer has been struggling to maintain adequate coal stock as per CEA norms.
According to the data provided by Coal Ministry, Chandrapur power plant was having coal stock of 0.029 MnT as on 26 Aug’18 which was sufficient only for one day of power generation. The normative stock requirement of the plant is 20 days.
Similarly, Bhusawal and Koradi plants were having coal stock for 9 and 11 days, against normative stock requirement of 20 and 25 days respectively.
Mahagenco had previously floated a tender for 1 MnT imported coal in Jan’18, however, report from the Power Ministry suggest that the power utility has not received any coal in period against the tender.
Amid the deteriorating coal stock at the plants, the power producer has come up with a new tender to secure fuel security for its plants’ operation.
