Itochu Corporation signed a deal reported with PT Hasnur Jaya Internasional, a subsidiary of Indonesian miner, Hasnur Group, to buy more coal from the company, Bisnis Indonesia reported.
Under the deal, Itochu will buy 2 MnT of coal for 2018 shipments, rising from 1.5 MnT, the Indonesian-language daily reported. Itochu and Hasnur Jaya has previously signed a sales-purchase agreement for 21 MnT of coal for 2012-2021.
“With the additional 500,000 tons, the total coal sales contract to Itochu for this year will be 2 MnT,” said Syamsul Bachri Djadi, Hasnur Group’s finance director as quoted by the newspaper in Tokyo, today.
The deal was signed in Itochu’s office in Tokyo on 24 Aug’18.
According to Syamsul, Itochu is one of the biggest buyers for coal produced by Hasnur Jaya. Both companies have worked together since 2012.

Etsua Kiyota, Itochu’s deputy general manager coal & nuclear fuel department metal and mineral resources division, said the company increases its coal purchases to feed its growing consumption.
The family-held Hasnur Group, established in 1966, started as a timber transportation company which delivered timber using traditional transport along the Barito river in South Kalimantan. The group has now grown into five main businesses, including mining and plantation.
