Dispatches of chrome ore by Odisha miners have decreased by around 33% in Jul’18 against Jun’18.
Odisha contributes entirely towards Indian Chrome Ore production. TATA Steel, being, one of the largest
merchant miners in the region dispatched 78,199 MT of chrome ore in Jul’18 against 130,486 MT in May’18. The company has witnessed a substantial decrease of 40% in the dispatch of the commodity on M-o-M basis. TATA Steel held 16,290 MT for captive consumption in Jul’18, which is 54% lower to what it was in Jun’18.
OMC recorded a substantial decrease of 25% M-o-M in its Jul’18 Chrome Ore dispatches. OMC dispatched 77,787 MT of Chrome Ore in Jul’18 against 103,124 MT in Jun’18. B.C. Mohanty & Sons also registered a decrease of 15% M-o-M. Moreover, Saurabhil Chromite Mines also witnessed a substantial decrease of 18% on M-o-M basis on Jul’18.
Such a decline in Chrome Ore dispatch in Jul’18 can be attributed to the slumping Ferro Chrome prices, owing to the over-supply situation in China.
